Aanii,

My name is Darlene, and I am a Mental Health Counsellor. I have had the opportunity to work with children, youth, and their families in Sagamok Anishnawbek since joining the mental health team in 2016. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Laurentian University (2011), and I have recently graduated from the Master of Social Work program from Wilfrid Laurier University (2023). I have received training in a number of therapeutic modalities including acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness awareness stabilization, internal family systems, and play therapy modalities from the Canadian Association of Play Therapy. I am also trained and certified in Applied Suicide Intervention and Mental Health First Aid. I believe in the importance of a holistic and strength-based approach to wellness. In my spare time I have started to produce more of my own food and now have backyard chickens for eggs and I am starting a garden. I also enjoy getting out for walks and exploring nature trails with my family and two dogs.

Chi-miigwetch and I look forward to continuing to connect with you all.
