Jennifer Lalonde

Aanii,

I am Jennifer Lalonde, one of Sagamok’s Wellness Support Workers. I have been working in the community since August 2016 and most recently came back off maternity leave for my third baby. I went to Nipissing University to receive my degree in Psychology, graduating in 2004 and then to Canadore College to receive my Mental Health and Addiction Program Worker diploma, graduating in 2006. I have worked in the addictions field ever since. Prior to working in Sagamok I worked on Manitoulin Island for the withdrawal management program through the hospital. I also worked in Sudbury at Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre with clients on methadone and suboxone. My passion in this field has been with me since a young age, when I wanted to help my own parents who struggled with addiction.

Throughout the years I have taken additional training to better myself in my personal and work life. I completed Beyond Addictions training, Seeking Safety training, Community Reinforcement and Family training, Cognitive Behavioural training, Trauma training, as well as many others. I am a Canadian Certified Addictions Counsellor through Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF).

At home I am a busy hockey mom/soccer mom/baseball mom/dance mom, and still find the time to further my education in the area of Medical Transcription, which is another interest to me.

I am pleased to be of service to the Sagamok community, Miigwetch
