My name is C. Marie Toulouse and I am from the Pike Clan. My position is Wellness Liaison Coordinator with the Mental Health and Addiction Team at Sagamok Naandwedjige-Gamik. I work with the most vulnerable, our loved ones in the community that are without shelter or at risk of becoming homeless. My role is to assist them with connecting to support services and helping in those difficult times. I also work with community members who have housing issues to assist with maintaining successful tenancy or managing their homes and residences. Primarily, I work one on one with clients to develop individualized plans and goals for wellness with a focus on life stabilization, long-term housing and on-going support based on need. I also provide educational opportunities by facilitating workshops and coordinating information sessions or community events. I have been working for our community since I graduated with honors from Cambrian College 28 years ago in the Native Community Care, Counselling and Development Program where my mainstream was in Mental Health. I have many professional designations to compliment the work that I do but foremost is my commitment to help our people.
