A Waste Management System Planning Study and Landfill Assessment was completed at the Sagamok Anishnawbek landfill - The existing landfill was noted to be nearing capacity, and had operational issues such as scattered litter around the site, ponded water on previously filled areas, an open trench, uncovered waste, etc.
The consultant, Neegan Burnside recommended establishing and operating a transfer station and closing the existing landfill. (Final Report 2020)
