Discover welding as a career path through practical, hands-on experience at this free introductory course!
Program Details
September 30th to October 11th, 2024, Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm
Cambrian College, Espanola Campus
This course will give participants exposure to welding as a career option by giving them hands-on experience in welding. The program will also inform the participants regarding the process of becoming a skilled tradesperson and the pathways to this career option.
Learning Outcomes
- Increased confidence working in a construction/industrial/trade environment
- Exposure to different types of welding, including
- Oxygen/Fuel Cutting
- Plasma Cutting
- Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
- 5 Welding Joints
- Understanding of welding safety rules
The program will cover trades math, safety training, and basic welding techniques (cutting and welding).
Requirements
Participants must be at least 18 years old.
One of the components of the project will focus on transferable trades skills (tool handling, safety, measuring, hand and small power tools, etc.).
Upon completion of the program, participants will be given the opportunity to work with an Employment Consultant to explore their options of returning to school to obtain required academic credentials, to enter an apprenticeship or postsecondary program, or to find employment.
