Juanita is seeking members for the proposed Child Welfare Committee, with a request for 3 members of Council to sit on the committee. McKenzie Toulouse, Leroy Bennett, Angus Toulouse, Lawrence Solomon, and Juanita are all identified as members. If there are any issues that need resolution, it can be brought back to Council.

The Terms of Reference do not require approval at this time, and can be reviewed by the newly created committee before being brought to Council.

The item of Housing Allocation will be deferred to the upcoming Housing Working Group meeting to more definitively address the root cause and changes in policy.


Lands, Resources, and Environment

SDC

In order to ensure we keep our funding for the retrofit, we have the go ahead from the provincial point of contact that moving to an aftercare model will not disqualify us from receiving the funding.

Sagamok Chief & Council motion to commit the following amounts to assist in addressing the Ritchie Falls Resort budget, $50,000.00 from Indigenous Tourism Ontario, $292,000 from an amendment to OFNLP budget, and additional portions from ISC & FNIHB 2022-23 Treatment Centre Capital Improvement Budgets; further, that budgets be allocated from Ontario Mental Health & Addictions, and that Sagamok Anishnawbek managers prioritize programming at Ritchie Falls for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
