Sagamok’s new Housing Department was established in August 2024. Housing previously fell under the responsibility of the Planning & Infrastructure Department; however, it was determined that Sagamok’s community growth and resulting housing demand require its own team and resources. With the leadership of Housing Director William Caldwell and the support of Council’s Housing Working Group, the Department has made significant progress in a short amount of time. The Housing Department will continue to build new homes for Sagamok’s Rental and Rent-to-Own portfolios to address the community’s growing needs. We recognize that many Sagamok Members want to move home, and we want to ensure that housing does not stand in the way of that goal.
Z’gamok Enterprises Inc. is a corporation 100% owned by the Sagamok Anishnawbek. It is mandated to maximize the economic development opportunities of the Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation within its traditional lands and within the Northern Ontario region in the resource sector and in services related to construction and resource development.
