Blanche Restoule submitted a request for a water connection at 1634 Sagamok Road. A well was installed at the home last year, but her request shows a need for direct water line access. Ross Assinewe will ensure the site is visited by staff to assess the needs.
Communications Strategy Presentation – Sean Cassidy
A communication strategy was brought forward to C&C last year, and feedback provided was that it was not Sagamok specific enough. To ensure it met Council standards, a Communications Strategy Group was formed last May. The new scope of the Plan focuses on the external communications, based on community consultations done in Summer 2022. Those consultations identified gaps in Communications skillset that were partially remedied with the merger of the IT Department. Of note are two key demographics that demonstrate the Plan’s ability to use targeted approaches to maximize the reach to different audiences based on how they best receive information. The Elder demographic prefer tactile, in-person, and easy to digest materials with pictures, whereas the Youth demographic prefer quick, digital, video based delivery through social media apps. A ticketing system has also been implemented to create a better workflow for IT and Communication requests. By providing a standardized workflow, requests can be received, delivered upon, and resolved in a consistent and timely fashion. This will allow for measurable metrics to be brought forward for review. Last, the website will be promoted as the central platform that information will flow out to various channels, such as print media, social media, and digital signage.
There are further objectives included that will be achieved as the Communications Strategy is adopted throughout the organization, such as a Social Media Literacy course for staff, routine communication templates, and how best to interface between the departments and Communications for best results.
