International Bat Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on April 17th to raise awareness about the critical role bats play in ecosystems, such as pollination, seed dispersal, and insect control. Established by Bat Conservation International, the day encourages learning about, protecting, and conserving bat habitats, particularly as many species face extinction.

How you can help bats!
• Support Conservation: Donate to organizations like Bat Conservation International or local bat rehabilitation centers.
• Install Bat Houses: Help provide safe roosting spots for bats, which are vital for local ecosystems.
• Learn & Share: Watch documentaries, read about bat species, and share facts on social media with #BatAppreciationDay.
• Report Bat Activity: Report dead or unusually acting bats to local wildlife agencies to help track diseases like white-nose syndrome.
• Reduce Light Pollution: Minimizing outdoor lighting helps bats navigate and forage at night.
