During the week of June 1–5, 2026, seven bats were netted and tagged in the community. The Sagamok Lands, Resources, and Environment Department will be tracking these bats for the rest of the month, and we want your help to name them!

Listed as Endangered both provincially and federally. It faces imminent extinction due to White-Nose Syndrome, severe habitat specialization on rocky slopes, and historical human disturbance. - Eastern Small-Footed Myotis (Myotis lucifugus) | Female, pregnant
- Big Brown Bat (Eptesicus fuscus) | Male
- Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus) | Male
Listed as Endangered in Ontario and is protected under both the provincial Endangered Species Act and federal Species at Risk Act. - Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus) | Female, pregnant
