ATV Safety Awareness Week

ATV SAFETY AWARENESS

Ride smart. Ride sober. Get home safe.

· Always wear an approved helmet and keep it securely fastened.
· Use protective gear: goggles, gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and over-the-ankle boots.
· Never ride impaired by alcohol or drugs.
· Ride only where permitted and follow local bylaws, trail rules, and posted signs.
· Do not carry passengers unless the ATV is specifically designed for two people.
· Stay off paved roads except where crossing or on-road use is legally permitted.
· Ride at a safe speed for the terrain, weather, and your skill level.
· Inspect your ATV before every ride: tires, brakes, lights, fuel, and controls.
· Tell someone your route and ride with others when possible.
· Supervise young riders and make sure the ATV fits the rider’s age and size.

Take training, know the law, and respect the land. ATV safety starts before the engine does.
