By-Law Update: Owner of Beige Dog to Expect Puppies

The owner of a beige female dog in the Star Road area can expect a litter of puppies in approximately 62 days.

She was observed being chased by 7 male dogs over the weekend of August 1st.

It is against the by-law to have a female dog in heat in public areas. Spay and neuter services are offered in the community two times/year. It is also against the by-law to have dogs at large.

It is against the by-law to have a female dog in heat in public areas. Spay and neuter services are offered in the community two times/year in an attempt to lower the dog population in our community.

See below for more information regarding the by-law that it is in place:

Section 14:  Every owner must keep the dog safely tied, penned, fenced, leashed or otherwise restrained at all times and in such a manner that the dog cannot escape or overpower its handler.

Section 17:  No owner shall allow a female dog in heat or any dog infected with mange, distemper or other infectious diseases in public areas.

Section 34:  The Owner of any dog shall ensure that such dog is not at large or running at large.

Section 35:  An Owner who fails to restrain the dog on a leash and allows his or her dog to roam is guilty of an offence.
