Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Applications Now Open - Apply by November 12 at 4:30 PM
The Sagamok Housing Department is inviting community residents to apply for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP). Designed to help lower home energy costs and improve comfort, this program provides home energy assessments and energy efficiency upgrades at zero cost to eligible households.
Is Your Home Energy-Efficient?
If your home feels drafty during colder months, or if you are running older appliances like a fridge or freezer that isn't working properly, an energy assessment can identify key areas for improvement.
Available Upgrades May Include:
- Insulation upgrades
- Energy-efficient refrigerators or freezers
- Ductless heat pump installation
Please note all of these upgrades are subject to eligibility at the time of assessment.
Program Process
- Step 1: Apply. Reach out to the Housing Department to get started.
- Step 2: Home Assessment. Once processed, your home will be scheduled for an assessment by our program partner, CLEAResult.
- Step 3: Upgrades. Approved upgrades are supplied and installed at no cost to the occupant or landlord.
Important Notes
- Previously Assessed Homes: If you live in Band-owned housing, are in a Sagamok Rent-to-Own unit, or were enrolled in the OHPA program that transitioned your home to electrical heating, your home has already been assessed for EAP. If you are unsure whether your home was included, please reach out to confirm.
- Appliance Exchange Requirement: If you are deemed eligible for a fridge, freezer, or dehumidifier replacement, please note that this is a strict exchange program. You will be required to trade in the old appliance that was present in your home at the time of the assessment.
How to Apply:
Reach out today with the address of the home you would like assessed, your relation to that home, and we will be in touch!
