Fire Hydrant Drug Warning

Exercise Caution Around Fire Hydrants

Community Members have been finding drugs and drug paraphernalia hidden around fire hydrants in the community.

Please exercise extreme caution around hydrants and closely supervise young children and pets when passing by fire hydrants.

Please advise older children to steer clear of fire hydrants due to the potential risks.

Drugs such as carfentanil (a very toxic opioid that is 100 times more potent than fentanyl) are currently circulating in the Sagamok area.

Coming into contact with even a very small amount can be dangerous, so if you do see drugs stored around fire hydrants, or in other areas of the community, please exercise caution and report the finding to APS.

To report a non-emergency incident such as this, please call the Provincial Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 and ask for the Sagamok Officer on duty.
