Together, we can help build a safer community.
A Message to the Community
Miigwech to everyone who helps keep our community safe. November is National Community Safety & Crime Prevention Month, and it is a good time for all of us to think about how we look after our homes, our families, our Elders, and each other.
Each week this month, we will share a simple crime prevention tip, along with information about upcoming community safety sessions. Please take part, ask questions, and share what you learn with your family and neighbours. Safe communities are built when everyone looks out for one another.
If you see something suspicious or have a safety concern, please call police at 1-888-310-1122. In an emergency, always call 911.
Miigwech,
Barry Petahtegoose
Community Safety & By-Law Coordinator
Weekly Crime Prevention Tips
Week 1 (Nov 2–8): Secure Your Home
- Lock doors and windows, even when you are home or only stepping out for a moment.
- Keep outdoor lights on at night and trim shrubs that hide entrances.
- Don't leave spare keys in obvious hiding places.
