A Gentle Reminder to Our Relatives:
Traditionally, the Memorial Round Dance is held in the winter months, and its purpose is to honor loved ones who have been passed on for at least 12 months at the time of the dance. The teaching behind this concept is that the spirit is new to the spirit world and still learning. Calling upon the spirit too soon may disrupt their journey. Although this is not forbidden, we encourage our relatives to follow tradition.
