We are happy to announce that we will be opening a sub and soup shop here in Sagamok for the winter season — Subs-2-Go! We recognize that there are no fast food options from Sept-May. We are here to help with this issue for our community members. Join us and try our food at the grand opening Wednesday, September 16 (the old Sweet Sips).
We will be focused on our youth in the community. We have two high school students starting on our grand opening. We are only hiring students as we want to be able to teach them responsibility and give them a chance to save for their post-secondary education. We have a desk in the back, and the youth are encouraged to do their homework if there are no customers.
One of the employees has graduated and is taking another year of high school to obtain the classes needed for their university in the fall and is willing to tutor if any of the employees/students need the extra help.
Every first Wednesday of each month, we will be fundraising for our community youth. That includes all profits from that day, along with tips/donations raised. The funds raised will be used for the Grade 8 end-of-the-year trip, playground materials, etc. We will be including Biidaabin School, the daycare, high school students from our community, and adult education, as they are also students bettering themselves.
If the business is doing well after the second month and there is a demand to operate 7 days a week, we will, and we will hire 2-3 more students.
We are located at the old Sweet Sips on Sagamok Rd. (top of the hill).
