Support Indigenous Youth Athlete of the Year Nominee
Such an incredible opportunity for one of our community’s youth, Jonah, who has been nominated for Youth Athlete of the Year. He is currently competing in an online voting competition, and with enough support, he has the chance to win this national recognition.
Jonah is a dedicated athlete whose hard work, determination, and spirit represent not just his own journey, but the strength and pride of Indigenous youth across the country. Winning this title would be an amazing achievement for him, and it would also be deeply meaningful for our community to see one of our own Indigenous youth celebrated for this amazing achievement.
The grand prize winner is chosen by the highest votes (this is where we need your help, voting for Jonah everyday) If won, Jonah will star in a 3Brand ad in sports illustrated and take home $25,000. How awesome would it be if Jonah Abitong - an indigenous child won Youth Athlete of the Year, not only for his athletic performance, but for the powerful example he sets on and off the ice/field. Indigenous children often carry the weight of representing their culture and community while navigating systemic barriers that others may not face. Their success is a testament to resilience, pride in their culture, and the strength of their identity.
Having an indigenous youth win Athlete of the Year acknowledges more than just wins and stats, it honors perseverance, leadership, and the power of sport to uplift entire communities. It will also help inspire other Indigenous youth to pursue their dreams and show them that their voices, stories, and achievements matter.
We are asking for your help in sharing Jonah’s story and encouraging readers to support him by voting.
Every vote matters, and the visibility your platform can bring could make all the difference in helping Jonah reach the finish line.
