When First Nations communities need to share information of a sensitive nature, such as details about the Robinson Huron Treaty Annuities case, a secure way to provide this information is through a private “Members-Only” portal on a website. Most of the RHT First Nations are providing this Members Portal option because it provides Members with a convenient and secure way to access confidential information.
As part of this process, some personal details need to be collected in order to validate the Member’s identity and ensure only the correct people have access to the site. It is important to note this is a service being provided to Members of Sagamok to make information easier to obtain. It is entirely voluntary, and Members can choose to participate based on their comfort level with the Internet.
The Sagamok website is hosted on Webflow, one of the most powerful web platforms available. It hosts over 200,000 websites worldwide, including many highly secure name-brand companies such as Dell Computers, New York Times, Dropbox, and PwC. In turn, Webflow is hosted on AWS, which is a world leader in hosting and provides the highest levels of physical security, redundancy, scalability and information management. Encryption is used throughout Webflow to protect data from unauthorized access. All communication is encrypted in transit using TLS, and all databases and database backups are encrypted at rest.
As a result, Members of Sagamok can be confident that we are taking security seriously and will never jeopardize data with anything but industry-trusted solutions and services.
